Party Season Glow: What to Book, and When

Most people think about their skin three weeks before the party. By then the options have narrowed considerably, and the treatments that would have made the biggest difference needed a run-up nobody mentioned.

This is a booking calendar rather than a sales pitch. Some of what follows tells you to wait until spring.

Why timing matters more than the treatment

Regenerative treatments work by prompting your own tissue to rebuild. That is the whole point of them, and it is also why they are not instant. Collagen does not appear on demand. It is laid down over weeks, in the ordinary way your body does everything else.

The treatments that work quickly do something different. They remove or resurface, and the improvement you see is your skin recovering well.

Both are useful. They just sit at opposite ends of the calendar.

Twelve weeks out

Sculptra. Sculptra is a collagen stimulator, not a filler. Instead of adding volume from a syringe, it prompts your own collagen to rebuild across the cheeks, temples and jawline over roughly twelve weeks. Some people need a second session four to six weeks after the first, which pushes the timeline further out again.

Book it now and it is working by December. Book it in late November and you are treating for March, which is a perfectly good decision, just not one that helps with the office party.

PRP for hair. Hair grows on its own schedule and no treatment changes that. PRP for thinning hair runs as a course over several months, and density changes gradually. If hair is your concern, this is the first thing to start and the last thing to expect results from.

Eight to ten weeks out

Polynucleotides. These work on skin quality from within: hydration, texture, elasticity and the crepey look under the eyes. It is usually a course of three sessions a few weeks apart, and skin improves through the course rather than all at the end.

Starting a course eight to ten weeks before an event means you finish it with time to spare.

Three to four weeks out

Microneedling with topical exosomes. Fine needling creates controlled micro-channels, and the exosome serum is applied into them during the same session. Skin looks fresher within days and continues improving for a few weeks afterwards.

A note on this one, because the industry is not being straight about it. Exosomes are used topically only in the UK. They are not licensed for injection here. If a clinic offers to inject them, that tells you something about the clinic.

PRP facial. A small amount of your blood is drawn, spun to separate the platelet-rich plasma, and returned to your skin through microneedling. Nothing synthetic goes in. Redness settles within a day or two for most people, and the improvement builds over the following weeks.

Two to three weeks out

Medical-grade chemical peel. A peel lifts dull surface cells and evens out tone. Most people see brighter, smoother skin within a week to ten days.

Leave a proper gap. Depending on the depth of peel there can be flaking for several days, and you do not want that happening the morning of the thing you booked it for. Two to three weeks is comfortable. One week to get the party season glow is a gamble.

The week of

Nothing. Genuinely.

This is the part clinics do not like saying, because there is money in the late booking. But injecting or resurfacing someone days before an event is how you end up with bruising in a photograph instead of a glow. Any clinic willing to treat you on the Thursday for a Saturday event is prioritising its diary over your face.

If you have left it late, the honest answer is good sleep, plenty of water, and booking properly for next year.

What to do if you have left it late this year

Start anyway. The party season is an arbitrary deadline, and skin does not care about the calendar. Treatments you begin in December are working by February, which is when most people feel worst about how they look and when almost nobody books anything.

There is also an argument for going against the rush. December is the busiest month in every aesthetic clinic in the country, and January is the quietest. You will get more time and better appointment slots in the second one.

Questions we get asked

Can I have a peel and microneedling in the same month? Usually yes, with appropriate spacing, but it depends on your skin and what else you have had done. That is a consultation question rather than a website question.

Will people be able to tell? That is the intention with everything we do. Regenerative work rebuilds your own tissue, which is why the result reads as looking well rather than looking treated.

How far ahead should I book the consultation itself? Further than you think in November and December. If you want treatment before Christmas, the consultation needs to happen with enough time for the treatment to follow and take effect.

Hedonia clinic is a doctor-led aesthetic clinic at 31 Brown Street, Salisbury SP1 2AS. Every consultation and every treatment is carried out by a qualified doctor.
