TCA Chemical Peel
What is a TCA Chemical Peel?
A TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) chemical peel is a medical skin treatment used to improve skin texture, tone and overall skin quality.
The treatment works by applying a controlled chemical solution to the skin, which stimulates the removal of damaged skin cells and encourages the growth of healthier new skin.
At Hedonia Clinic we use SkinTech TCA Pain Control, a professional peel containing TCA with additional ingredients designed to improve patient comfort during treatment.

What Concerns Can It Treat?
TCA peels are commonly used to improve:
• Sun damaged skin (photoaging)
• Pigmentation and uneven skin tone
• Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
• Melasma
• Active acne and acne scarring
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Stretch marks
• Overall skin quality and texture
How the Treatment Works
TCA works as a protein-denaturing agent, meaning it triggers controlled damage to specific layers of the skin.
This process stimulates the skin’s natural regeneration.
As the treated skin sheds over several days, healthier new skin appears underneath.
The depth of the peel can be adjusted depending on the number of layers applied.
This allows the treatment to be tailored to the individual patient and their skin concerns.
Skin Types
TCA peels can be performed on Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI.
However, patients with darker skin tones require additional preparation and careful treatment planning to minimise the risk of pigmentation changes.
This is always discussed during consultation.
What to Expect After Treatment
Following treatment the skin may feel tight and appear slightly red.
Over the next few days the skin will begin to peel as the outer damaged layer sheds.
Skin regeneration usually occurs over approximately 5–7 days.
During this time patients should avoid:
• Sun exposure
• Exercise and sweating
• Touching or picking the skin
• Applying active skincare ingredients
Detailed aftercare instructions will be provided.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?
Many patients achieve noticeable improvement after one or two treatments, although this depends on the skin concern being treated.
Consultation
All treatments begin with a full consultation to assess the skin and determine whether a TCA peel is appropriate.
Your practitioner will also discuss preparation, aftercare and expected results.
